Keith McNeilly, Co-founder of Moveme.com, responds to the Bank of England's decision to hold rates at 5% today:
“While today's decision to hold rates has come as no surprise, it once again reflects the MPC's tendency to put inflation fears ahead of a struggling economy and a stalling housing market.
“Despite a series of lacklustre measures introduced by the Government earlier this week, the housing market is still facing turbulent times - with house prices continuing to fall and buyers staying away in their droves. A cut in rates, combined with a much needed cut in the cost of borrowing is essential if we are to steer the market back to more buoyant times.”
