Stunning sounds

Listening to music and watching films at home are some of life's pleasures.
Together with British Hi-Fi brand, KEF, we show you how they can sound
even better

Technology has moved on incredibly since the days when the gramophone and wireless introduced us to the pleasures of home entertainment. More recently our habits have switched from playing a CD in a stereo system to docking an iPod into speakers - and the world of sound technology is constantly evolving. There are all kinds of innovations which allow us to hear music in every room of the house at the flick of a switch, or cinema-quality surround sound when we settle down to watch the new blockbuster DVD.

A company that is at the forefront of developing our home entertainment experience is KEF. Founded in 1961, the company has a flair for the unusual and controversial in terms of loudspeaker engineering, design and use of materials. By 1973 the company was evolving the concept of computer assisted “total system design”, at a time when the world's very first 4-bit microprocessor was still in its infancy!

More than 10 years of growth worldwide followed, peaking with a massive onslaught on the lucrative and influential US market in 1985 with the setting up of KEF Electronics of America. Under new ownership in 1992, KEF Audio found itself equipped with new ideas, new personalities and new products. But the same philosophies of solid engineering and innovation remained.

KEF offers a range of speakers that don't just sound amazing - they look amazing too. Take the Muon for example - which is a balance of designer Ross Lovegrove's aesthetics and the physics of sound. Fabricated from superformed aluminium, they look like sculptures in their own right - with these in your living room you will definitely have a talking point - as well as crystal clear sound.

The range of speakers on offer means that whatever your style and however big or small your home is, there is an appropriate choice. Whether you're after large floorstanding speakers to flood a large living room with clear as a bell music, or bookshelf speakers for stunning sonic treats in your bedroom, KEF has the speakers for you.

The company even has a range of custom installation speakers, allowing you to have music in your bathroom, or even outside. And when it comes to watching films, KEF have a myriad of home cinema systems on offer, including a wireless system. KEF's KIT160 system (pictured opposite) delivers an accurate, fullbodied, enveloping surround sound from just two speakers.

So if you're serious about sound - this is the brand for you. contact
