Kitchen living with the Dining Desk

Luxury German kitchen manufacturer Poggenpohl is proud to introduce the latest in design innovation with its revolutionary new Dining Desk.

This contemporary piece of kitchen furniture is not only an elegant and sculptural dining table, but also creates a single place where food can be prepared and eaten.

Only a light seam running centrally gives the indication that the table may be more than it first appears.  When the desk is parted, it reveals space into which two trolleys fit perfectly; these trolleys provide a place for different food preparation and cooking elements to be integrated.

Offering a variety of possibilities, from chopping boards and containers to a Japanese-influenced teppan grill, this allows all those present to participate in a unique dining experience.  The Dining Desk is therefore also a statement that complements the work-leisure integration of modern life; there no longer needs to be the separation of host and guests, and family mealtimes can become a more unified affair.

The tables, which are available with manual or remote controlled electrical operation, seat either six or eight, and are either 2000mm or 2500mm long x 1000mm wide. As an eye-catching furniture element, the dining desks are crafted in a variety of exquisitely finished luxury granites and marbles, as well as a selection of beautifully grained and structured fine veneers, with the grain structures being carefully matched around the whole table.

The Dining Desk was originally developed for the International Milan Furniture Fair in April 2006.  Martin Gill, MD of Poggenpohl UK and Head of Global Retailing explains, “The design was always meant to be a light-hearted vision of the future, but the desk proved so popular that Poggenpohl decided to put it into production.

The amount of interest shown in the past two years has been unprecedented; it seemed the right thing to do was to respond to the overwhelming demand.”
Depending upon the chosen finish, the Dining Desk retails from around £10,000 and is available from selected Poggenpohl Design Studios.  For more information on Poggenpohl kitchens please telephone 0800 298 1098 or visit www.poggenpohl.co.uk.
